ISLAMABAD:

United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahayan on Wednesday said that Pakistani expatriates’ services have helped the kingdom develop into a modern country.

This was stated during a meeting between Sheikh Nahayan and Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Chairman Shehryar Afridi, who called on the former in Abu Dhabi. It was the second high-level contact between the two countries after the recent visit of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to the UAE.

The meeting was mainly focused on further enhancing bilateral relations between the two states. Afridi conveyed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s “special message” to Sheikh Nahayan.

“Under PM Imran [leadership], the ties between the two friendly nations will further be cemented,” he said, adding that Pakistan and UAE have a wonderful relationship.

“The UAE and Pakistan are tied in decades of brotherly ties and overseas Pakistanis living here have provided further impetus to the historical and friendly ties between the two states,” Sheikh Nahayan said.

He also praised services of Pakistanis based in the UAE, saying that they have helped the kingdom develop into a modern country. “The UAE has become a global village and here Pakistanis along with people from all over the world have been representing their culture really well,” the UAE minister added.

Furthermore, Sheikh Nahayan appreciated Afridi’s efforts in “activating Pakistan’s youth” on the issue of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying that it is need of the hour.

He said: “I extend my good wishes to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan for all his future endeavours.”
