Expressing reservations and concerns over the sealing of a warehouse of Gul Ahmed Textile Mills, the management of the company has contended that the move has shaken the confidence of the business sector and investors.
The warehouse was sealed in line with the Supreme Court's directives to vacate the illegally occupied land of the Pakistan Railways (PR).
"But action against the legally purchased land without any prior notice is a blow to investor confidence," the management claimed in a statement issued on Sunday.
It further maintained that the "one-sided action that did not comply with legal requirements" was damaging to Pakistan's image internationally.
According to the management, the company purchased the land in question in 2003, fulfilling all legal requirements. Saying that they could produce legal documents to prove their stance, the management also maintained that neither had the PR ever claimed the land in the past 17 years, nor did it send any notices to the company in this regard.
"The illegal action by the PR has defamed Gul Ahmed," the management complained, adding that it could present legal documents of the land at any platform.
It appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to take immediate notice of the issue and measures to ensure that the PR complies with the law.
