RAWALPINDI:

A woman and her 18-month-old daughter were allegedly killed by her husband, a basic pay scale (BPS) 17 official, a police spokesperson shared on Wednesday.

According to the details, the woman’s father, Muhammad Ashfaq told the police that his daughter, Hina, married Mujahid Ali four years ago and had an 18-month-old daughter named Anaya. He said that he had been unable to contact Hina since January 3 after which he called his son-in-law, however, his phone was powered off..

The father rushed to Ali’s house where he witnessed a crowd gathered. The complainant saw the wounded face and body of his daughter as well as of his granddaughter’s in the adjoining room.

In his report, Ashfaq accused that Hina’s husband used to beat her often for not bearing a son. He alleged that her daughter and granddaughter have been killed by Ali.

The police spokesperson said that there were wounds on the victim’s body. He added that the victim’s husband stated the cause of death to be a gas-leakage blast but he has been taken into custody as the facts did not match his claims. Further investigation is underway.
