Rawalpindi cops get decent barracks

Room heater, running hot water, clean bathrooms made available

In a bid to provide decent accommodation to police personnel, model barracks have been set up at Rawalpindi Police Line Headquarters on Monday. The 88-bed facility will accommodate single policemen.

I is equipped with new beds, quilts, blankets, pillows, room heaters, hot water, washrooms, and tables with each bed and other facilities. It has been set up on the instructions of Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younus. CPO said more barracks would be built on the same pattern.

The top cop of the garrison city had taken strong exception to the squalid living conditions of policemen. CPO Younis said that the welfare of the force was among his top priorities.

For this purpose, all available resources would be utilised. He said the model barracks would provide excellent accommodation to the personnel. Earlier, Rawalpindi CPO had taken initiatives to set up a modern mess hall, police welfare centre, gym, library, hot water supply in police stations, and police check posts.

Along with it, the city police chief had set up a daycare centre to facilitate female personnel of Rawalpindi police. The police personnel dwelling in the barracks said that the barracks equipped with modern facilities for their accommodation were one of their kind. They thanked the Rawalpindi CPO for the initiative.
