Sindh's death toll from Covid soars to 3,611 as 17 more die
As many as 17 more coronavirus-related deaths were reported in Sindh on Sunday, when 961 new Covid-19 cases emerged in the province, according to a statement issued by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on the day.
He said that following these development, the coronavirus death toll in the province had increased to 3,611.
Besides, the CM added that with over 900 samples of 11,473 testing positive, the infection tally rose to 218,597.
Meanwhile, he said, 753 more people recovered from Covid-19, lifting the total number of recoveries in the province to 197,430.
According to the CM, 17,556 Covid-19 patients undergoing treatment, of whom 16,756 are in home isolation, 788 are in hospitals and 12 are in isolation centres. He said the condition of 704 patients was critical and 74 of them were on ventilators. Furthermore, the CM stated that of the newly reported cases, 791 emerged in Karachi, with 256 reported from South district, 251 from East district, 94 from Korangi, 92 from Central district and 49 each from Malir and West district.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad saw 25 fresh cases, Qambar-Shahdadkot 15, Larkana 14, Dadu and Shaheed Benazirbad 12 each, Khairpur and Sujawal 11 each, Thatta seven, Jamshoro six, Ghotki and Mirpurkhas five apiece, Badin and Jacobabad four each, Matiari and Sukkur three each, Tando Allahyar, Naushehro Feroze and Sanghar two each and Kashmore-Kandhkot one.
