Livestock dept to incentivise cattle farming

The animal did not gain required weight, the farmer would remain deprive of incentive

MULTAN:

Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department is offering incentives to cattle farmers in the ‘Save buffalo calf’ and ‘Buffalo calf fattening’ programmes. The government incentives aim to promote meat production across the province.

Livestock Deputy Director Dr Jamshaid Akhtar stated that the cattle farmers were being given Rs6,500 in Save buffalo calf programme.

Regarding the criteria, he added that the farmers were instructed to get
their buffalo calf registered from first month of birth of the calf.

“Farmers will have to feed calf properly. The calf should enhance weight by 300 grammes per day.”

In case, the animal did not gain required weight, the farmer would remain deprive of incentive, he clarified.
