Five people die of coronavirus in Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI:

At least five people died of the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in Rawalpindi on Friday pushing the death toll to 694 in the district.

Another 37 people have tested positive for the virus while there are at least 1,288 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Rawalpindi district.

The novel coronavirus (Covid19) cases continued to surge in the federal capital on Friday as 186 new cases were reported, an official of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) shared.

As many as 146 new cases were reported on Thursday and 166 cases came to light on Wednesday, the official said, adding that the total number of cases in the capital stood at 37,888 with 419 deaths while 34,410 patients had recovered completely. Meanwhile, on the direction of Ministry of National Health Services, the Islamabad administration continued smart lockdowns in different streets of the capital to reduce transmission of the infection. Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Anwarul Haq has urged the business community to strictly follow standard operating procedures related with business activities.
