Pindi police all set to control New Year revellers
Around 3,800 police personnel will be deployed in Rawalpindi and Murree to control rowdies on New Year Eve.
The district administration has already banned fireworks, aerial firing, one-wheeling, and car screeching in the city and the hill station where tourists are waiting for the passage of one the most difficult years of their lives.
Rawalpindi police officers said that Special Branch has informed about presence of a large number of revellers in Murree. These rowdies plan to set off fireworks, indulge in aerial firing, dance and play loud music besides creating a ruckus in the otherwise family-friendly atmosphere of Rawalpindi, police officers told The Express Tribune.
Therefore, the Special Branch has suggested deployment of an additional police force to stop these activities in the city and popular picnic spots, they said.
Similarly, the police personnel will be deployed on the main thoroughfares of Rawalpindi including Murree Road, Mall Road, GT Road, Airport Road, and Bank Road. Police would set up pickets to stop one-wheeling on the occasion.
Further, the security of important buildings and sites in Rawalpindi has also been jacked up while police mobiles fitted with cameras will be stationed in different locations as well.
The cameras would help record videos of people setting off fireworks and aerial firing so that immediate action could be taken against them.
