ATC convicts man in terrorism case

He was sentenced to 25 years of penal servitude, penalty of Rs20 million

An anti-terrorism court convicted one person on Monday in a case pertaining to the establishment of a madrassah for terrorist activities of a banned outfit.

Announcing the verdict at Karachi Central Jail, ATC No12 sentenced convict Ghulam Rasool Rabbani to a 25 years of penal servitude and awarded a penalty of Rs20 million.

The court further directed the education department to take control of the madrassah. The court observed that the convict established the madrassah in Jamali Goth at Super Highway to facilitate terrorist activities.

Separately, the ATC No12 convicted one person in the case pertaining to the abduction of two citizens from Larkana. The court awarded a life sentence to convict Mumtaz and imposed a penalty of Rs2m on him. Besides, the court awarded a 10-year sentence and a penalty of Rs2m to the absconders in the case.
