Jennifer Aniston receives backlash for Covid-19 joke

The actor had posted a picture of an ornament engraved with the inscription 'our first pandemic 2020'

Jennifer Aniston recently came under fire after she shared a picture of a Christmas ornament engraved with the message "Our first pandemic 2020." in an Instagram story, reported Insider. Although the actor didn't give context as to whether the ornament was her own or just a random picture, netizens didn't hold back in giving her a piece of their mind.

"All celebrities have done during this pandemic is show how out of touch and just oblivious they are to anything that doesn't have to do with them. Some people's entire family have died, but at least Aniston is showing how quirky she can be," one user wrote in response to a @PopCrave tweet of Aniston's Instagram story.

"Jennifer Aniston is a damn fool for posting that ornament on her story," a Twitter user wrote.

The ornament that Aniston showed on her Instagram story is a custom-made design sold by an Etsy shop called Rustic Raleigh for $5, the owner, according to Insider.

Meanwhile, certain social-media users went on to defend Aniston and her post, pointing out that she's previously shared Instagram posts expressing empathy toward victims of Covid-19 and urged people to wear face masks and follow public health guidelines.

"Just saw that Jennifer Aniston is getting cancelled over an “our first pandemic” ornament? My mom’s coworker gave her one for Christmas everyone here needs to calm down," a user said on Twitter.
