Akshay Kumar hikes fees to INR135 crores
Known for his quirky persona, Akshay Kumar is a Bollywood favourite when it comes to comedies. The 52-year-old actor also made it to Forbes this year as the sixth highest paid male actor in the world, reported Filmfare.
According to a new report, Kumar has upraised his fees for his upcoming films. While the actor used to charge INR117 crores earlier, he will now charge taking home INR135 crores!
“The production budget of most Akshay Kumar films will be in the range of INR35 crores to INR45 crores, in addition to INR15 crores more for print and publicity, taking the total in the range of INR50 to INR60 crores. Taking the number of his acting fees into account, the overall budget of his films would be in the range of INR185 crores to INR195 crores.”
“Doing a backward calculation in the account, his films earn approximately INR80 to INR90 crores from the sale of satellite and digital, whereas additional INR10 crores comes from the sale of music rights, leaving an amount in the range of INR95 to INR100 crores for recovery from theatres, meaning lifetime box-office collections of INR210-220 crores in India. This isn’t as big a number for him to achieve, given his stardom and trust among the audience. And in 2021, it’s a rather easy number for a superstar like Akshay.”
Although, Kumar is willing to charge not as much for Bachchan Pandey to support his friend Sajid Nadiadwala to make a high budget film in such hard-hitting times. The actor has numerous releases lined up and he’s eager to rumble. The lineup includes Sooryavanshi, Prithviraj Chauhan, Bell Bottom, Atrangi Re, Bachchan Pandey, Mission Lion, Ram Sethu and Raksha Bandhan due for release in 2021.
