At least two die as blast hits football match in Panjgur
At least two people were killed and eight others sustained injuries in a powerful explosion near a football stadium in Balochistan's Panjgur district on Saturday.
Initial reports suggest the blast occurred following a match between two football teams of Boys High School Esa.
Two cars were completely destroyed while several others damaged in the blast.
Police and law enforcement forces contingents after arriving at the site of the explosion, corodoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Those killed in the explosion were identified as Hassan s/o Hussain and Jan Rahim Jan s/o Dil Jan, according to rescue officials.
Semir s/o Mohammad Aziz, Zahid s/o Mohammad Jan, Jalal s/o Kabir, Jan, Mehmood s/o Wahid, Asad s/o Mohammad Bilal, Ali s/o Mohammad Yousuf and Murad s/o Dad Mohammad were among those injured in the incident, they added.
Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Lango, while condemning the incident, sought a report from the law enforcement agencies within 24 hours.
He directed them to also increase security at all exit and entry points of the city. "These cowardly acts of the terrorists cannot shake the nation’s resolve," he added.
Lango said that targeting unarmed and innocent civilians was against all norms of humanity, adding that such incidents will not be tolerated. He also sympathised with families of the victims.
