Karachi's 'Ladies Fund Women Awards' honours 12 frontline workers for their service in Covid fight

Twelve women frontline workers were honoured for their indispensable role in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic at the 12th Annual Ladies Fund Women Awards on Thursday.

The initiative, that aims to ensure financial security of women and promote and train entrepreneurs, held the awards ceremony in Karachi with Governor Sindh Imran Ismail as the guest of honour.

Tara Uzra Dawood, president of the Dawood Global Foundation, also spoke on the ocassion,“This year, it was the front-like workers to whom we as a nation owe so much...they helped keep us safe risking their own life."

Adeeba Hafiz, a nurse at the Indus Hospital), Dr Aysha Almas, who set up a temporary COVID-19 facility at the Agha Khan University Hospital and Dr Baakh Nusrat, who helped set up the government field isolation center were awarded for their service

Similarly, Fatima Majeed for food ration distribution to fishery community, Pastor Ghazala Shafique for food ration distribution to marginalised communities and Karima Hirani, an ER nurse manager at AKU were honoured.

Moreover, Kiran Pulzaib, a nurse at the Indus Hospital), Dr Nawal Salahuddin, who works in critical care at NICVD), Dr Sehrish Batool, who also helped set up the government field isolation center, Shabana Francis (nurse, SIUT), Dr Sara Ahmed (Infectious Diseases Consult, Patel Hospital),and Dr Shobha Luxmi (Dow University Hospital) were all dished out awards for their service.
