Bilawal invites PDM leaders to Benazir’s anniversary gathering

The PPP chairman went to the residence of Sherpao and invited him to attend the meeting in Garhi Khuda Buksh

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has contacted opposition leaders in the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and extended invitation to a rally on the occasion of 13th death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto on December 27.

Bilawal contacted PDM President and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) head Mahmood Khan Achakzai, and Qaumi Watan Party chief Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao.

The PPP chairman went to the residence of Sherpao and invited him to attend the meeting in Garhi Khuda Buksh Bhutto on Sunday. During the meeting, the overall political situation in the country and plans for an effective movement against the government was also discussed.

Sherpao had recently invited Bilawal over tea at his residence. During the visit, the PPP chairman was accompanied by party Secretary General Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and Senator Qaratul Ain.

Separately, Bilawal telephoned Achakzai and discussed with him the political situation in the country. During the talks, Achakzai also discussed the current situation in Balochistan and the goals of the PDM. The PPP Chairman invited Achakzai to attend the meeting in Garhi Khuda Buksh Bhutto on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a PPP spokesperson said on Wednesday that the PPP chairman had convened a meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee on December 29 in Karachi. The meeting will consider the political situation in the country, the spokesperson added.
