A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) awarded on Monday the death sentence twice to accused, Ishaq alias Bobby, in the murder case Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz's Sindh Lawyers Wing former vice president Advocate Waqar Shah.
The ATC announced the verdict of the case at the Karachi Central Jail. The court also sentenced Ishaq to 10 years of penal servitude and penalised him for Rs50,000 in the case and directed him to pay Rs200,000 to the deceased's family in compensation money.
According to the police, Ishaq killed Advocate Shah on April 10, 2014, and the weapon confiscated from his possession upon his arrest also matched the weapon used for the crime. Acquitted Separately, Ishaq was acquitted in a separate case, pertaining to the murder of a paan shop owner, due to the lack of evidence against him. The same ATC acquitted him in this case.
The police had maintained that Ishaq and his accomplices had gunned down a paan shop owner, Wazir Ali, near an Imambargah in Korangi in 2014. His accomplices, Abdul Ahad and Irfan alias Rana, are still on the run. Ishaq has already been sentenced to death in the cases pertaining to the murder of Amjad Sabri, an attack on Imambargah and the killing of Advocate Shah.
