Dozen in the run for mayor’s seat

Papers of candidate Sajid Abbasi have been restored

ISLAMABAD:

The appellate authority of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) restored the nomination papers of one of the four candidates whose papers were rejected after which the total number candidates in the run for the seat of Islamabad mayor reached 12. The papers of candidate Sajid Abbasi have been restored. The decision to reject the nomination papers of Chaudhry Rafat Javed, Khurram Bakhtiar, and Muhammad Rafiq was upheld by the appellate authority of ECP. According to the revised list of valid candidates issued by Returning Officer (RO) Naeem Ahmed, the candidates include Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, Syed Zaheer Ahmed Shah, Malik Amir Ali, Shiraz Kayani, Rifat Azeem, Wasim Sana Malik, Malik Sajid Mehmood, M Sajid Abbasi, Pir Adil Shah, Azhar Mehmood, Ahmad Khan and Sajid Mehmood Malik. The date of withdrawing from the election is December while the candidates would be allotted electoral symbols on December 22. The election for Islamabad’s mayor would be held on December 28.
