RAWALPINDI:

With schools closed, children have resorted to all sorts of activities to pass their time including the banned sport of kite flying.

With the rise in demand the kite sellers too have increased their business.

Subsequently, Pirwadhai police conducted raids and arrested nine people besides recovering 195 kites and 522 spools of kite flying string from them.

Similarly, Airport police arrested two people and recovered 75 kites and four spools of string. Separate cases have been registered against all the suspects.

Kite flying was banned due to recurrent cases of kite string getting entangled in the necks of motorbike riders causing fatal accidents.
