ISLAMABAD:

The apex civic agency of the federal capital has hired a consultant developing the Rawal Dam Chowk project.

An official of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday said that the project is currently underway.

The project was stipulated to be completed within two years and will be financed by the authority itself.

Under the project, two underpasses and a flyover will be constructed.

The official said that the services of a consultant have been hired for the project. A test file has been completed on the east loop of Park Road. Earthwork of the project has been completed.

Now, the official said, work is underway on putting a load on the loop, thereafter the piling work will commence.

One underpass will be constructed from Park Road to Murree Road and the other will be constructed from Faizabad towards Margalla Town.

Residents of both the phases of Margalla Tower and Margalla Town Orchard Scheme will be facilitated.

The environmental impact assessment (EIA) of the project has been completed and CDA, the official said, expects to receive the final report soon.

Trees at the site of the project are being shifted to other places under the supervision of the environment ministry.
