LAHORE:

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Thursday claimed that Prime Minister Imran Khan, who used to say that he won’t give any NRO -- a reference to Musharraf-era political amnesty -- to the opposition parties, was now asking for an NRO from Nawaz Sharif.

She took out a rally from Gujja Matta to Data Darbar. Speaking at her residence at Jati Umra before leaving for the rally, she said that her party had not even formally asked for the resignations but a large number of parliamentarians had already submitted their resignations.

She added that “Nawaz Sharif has refused to give him an NRO”. During her rally, that caused gridlock on Ferozepur road, she was given reception at 16 different points. Many of the reception camps were set up on the side the main roads that led to traffic jams, through and through.

“Imran Khan’s government has only increased difficulties for the people of Pakistan and now it is time for him to go,” she said, adding that the opposition would send the PTI government packing. She appealed to people of Lahore to participate in the rally in large numbers.

Accompanied by party leaders Perviez Rashid and Marrium Auragzeb, she stopped at hotel in Lakshmi Chowk to enjoy the desi delicacy of Karahi. She concluded her rally at Data Darbar, where she offered ‘dua’ from her vehicle.

Before her starting the rally, Maryam Nawaz held a meeting of the PML-N Lahore division to review the arrangement of PDM power show. Meanwhile, anticipating chaos, the police had removed the stage and chairs and arrested organisers of some reception camps. However, they were released later.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) continued their preparations for Sunday’s power show at the Greater Iqbal Park, with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reaching the city to attend the Lahore rally on December 13. According to local party leaders, the PPP chairman will lead a rally from his residence to the Greater Iqbal Park.
