Govt to pay utility bill dues for labourers’ flats
The provincial relief department was directed on Tuesday to pay utility arrears for the 592 apartments, in a housing project for labourers, which were used by the provincial government as emergency quarantine centres for novel coronavirus patients.
This was directed by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in Peshawar on Tuesday while chairing a meeting to review the progress made on constructing a housing scheme for labourers by the K-P Workers Welfare Board under the provincial labour department.
During the meeting, the chief minister was told that around 95% of the 1,200 apartments and allied infrastructure at the Regi Lalma site in Peshawar was complete. Moreover, around 94% of work on the 856 under-construction flats and allied infrastructure under the second phase of the project.
CM Mahmood directed the labour and other relevant departments to immediately complete the housing scheme at the earliest, taking necessary measures to provide them with the required funds for its timely completion.
