Former KCCI president Siraj Kassam Teli passes away
Renowned businessman and former president of Karachi Chamber of Commerce Siraj Kassam Teli passed away in Dubai on Tuesday. He was 67.
It is reported that Teli had contracted pneumonia a few a days ago and was later put on ventilator after his condition worsened.
"He remained on a ventilator for two days and died of cardiac arrest," a person privy to the matter told The Express Tribune.
Teli was a top leader of BMG Group which remained in power and continued to win elections at Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) for over a decade now.
Condolences started pouring in as the news of his death was confirmed.
Prime Minister Imran Khan took to the microblogging site, Twitter, expressing his condolences on the demise of Siraj Teli.
“Saddened to hear of the passing of Siraj Qasim Teli. My condolences and prayers go to his family,” the premier wrote on his official handle.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah condoled with his family and the business community remembering Teli as ‘a great human being and a friend’.
Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Sheikh also offered his condolences to the bereaved family.
“Siraj Kassam Teli played an important role in the national economy, the struggle of the late businessman is unforgettable," Sheikh said.
The minister prayed for the departed soul.
