157 more houses put under lockdown

Action is being taken in all districts against violation of SOPs

LAHORE:

Punjab government has decided to bring 157 more houses in Lahore under ‘smart lockdown’ due to increase in coronavirus cases in the localities.

Sources said the department of secondary and primary healthcare had identified the houses in areas where the number of patients had increased. The coronavirus cases in Lahore are increasing at a rate of over 10% due to which the smart lockdown is being tightened.

The district administration has issued instructions that customers not wearing masks should be served in markets, restaurants and petrol stations.

According to the spokesperson for the department, at least 807 new cases of the disease were reported in Punjab on Monday, raising the total number to123,762. Another 15 deaths caused by the disease raised the toll since the outbreak to 3,177. So far 2,088,916 samples have been tested. The number of recovered patients of coronavirus has reached 99,396.

Action is being taken in all districts against violation of SOPs. The authorities are restriction movement of people in the areas placed under smart lockdown.

The government had imposed smart lockdown in several areas of Punjab in view of the increasing cases of coronavirus. Now the rate of spread of the disease is being assessed to decode about continuing the restrictions.
