The government institutions were snatching bread from the people instead of providing employment

RAWALPINDI:

The traders of Rawalpindi on Sunday protested against the arbitrary increase in shop rents and the auction of government shops by Rawalpindi Metropolitan Corporation (RMC).

The traders of Bara Marker, Kashmiri Bazaar, and Astabal Road staged a protest on Fawara Chowk.

All groups of the traders’ representative bodies, expressed solidarity with the affected traders and extended support.

The officials Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiran from all three markets including Sharjeel Mir, Malik Arshad Awan, Ghulam Qadir Mir, Malik Shahid Ghafoor, Chaudhry Pervaiz, Shehzad, and others participated in the protest.

They said that for over a decade, the traders were paying rent of RMC owned shops with a 10 per cent increase every year. However, the decisions taken by RMC were out of their minds. They added that the government institutions were snatching bread from the people instead of providing employment.
