K-P MPA Faisal Zaman wanted in murder case
A lawmaker from Haripur has been granted protective bail until December 10 by a court in the federal capital in a murder case.
Bail for independent Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) provincial assembly member Faisal Zaman was approved by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday while the provincial police were restrained from arresting him during this period.
The bail was approved against bonds worth Rs20,000. Zaman filed a petition in the IHC, wherein he stated that he was elected as an independent MPA from Haripur and was not aligned with either the ruling party or any of the opposition parties.
He claimed that the ruling party in the province was pressuring them to join the incumbent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Hence, a false case was concocted against him.
Moreover, he said that he had also been indicted in a murder case lodged against unidentified assailants and his alleged confessional statement had also been presented.
He claimed that he was well respected in his constituency for his principled stance and by having him arrested for murder, the ruling party wants to humiliate him before his constituents.
Citing fear of immediate arrest owing to the political victimisation under a fake FIR, he urged the court to grant him protective bail so that he can approach the concerned court. The court granted the petition and approved his bail at Rs20,000.
