Displaying price list at shops made mandatory
A regulatory body of shops, stalls and vendors has said that an operation will be launched from December 14 against shopkeepers and vendors who do not display the official price lists. Rawalpindi District Market Committee on Friday said it has made it mandatory for all shopkeepers, hawkers, stall holders, vegetable and fruit sellers, chicken shops, bakeries and grocery Citizens have also been asked to inform the market committee merchants all over the city to display the official rate list of all food prominently at their business places. Market Committee Chairman Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmed told The Express Tribune that all shopkeepers have been directed to display rate lists by December 10. He said an operation will be launched from December 14 against shopkeepers who do not post rate list. The market committee during its operation will impose fines on the violators. The committee has also advised that rate list must be prominently pasted at the business places so that consumers could see it. Imtiaz Ahmed said that the chairpersons of the market committees have been given powers of price magistrates to ensure implementation of government rate lists. or the Deputy Commissioner's Office about the shops which do not have a price list on the stalls. In addition, a special new app is being developed to enable the consumers to find out the prices of vegetables, fruits, meat, milk, chicken and eggs through their mobile phones he said.
