Shehbaz, Hamza shifted back to Kot Lakhpat Jail
PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and his son, Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly, Hamza Shehbaz were shifted back to the Kot Lakhpat jail on Thursday.
Both the leaders were released on parole for five days to attend the funeral of Begum Shamim Akhtar, which was later extended by another 24 hours on December 2 on the request of the PML-N.
Shehbaz and Hamza, were taken to the prison in separate convoys, due to security reasons. Before their departure, PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz held a farewell meeting with them at Model Town.
The PML-N had requested for a 14-day parole however, only 5-day parole was initially approved.
Earlier in the day, Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, along with his son Moonis Elahi and PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s son and Kamil Ali Agha met with Shehbaz at his residence to condole the death of his mother.
Maryam Nawaz and other senior PML-N leaders were also in attendance.
PML-N leaders appreciating the arrival of rival political party leaders took a dig at PTI for not sending any delegation to the PML-N president on the occasion.
Former premier Yousuf Raza Gillani along with his sons, JI chief Senator Sirajul Haq along with his delegation and MNA Mohsin Dawar also met with Shehbaz to express grief over the death of his mother.
