LAHORE:

The PML-N has geared up for the December 13 rally to be held under the banner of PDM in Lahore and started implementing its plan of holding workers’ convention throughout the city with the first two held on Thursday.

A preparatory meeting for the scheduled rally was held at the PML-N’s Lahore secretariat, which was presided over by party vice-president Maryam Nawaz and attended by senior party leaders including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Rana Sanaullah and others.

During the meeting, it was revealed that Maryam would tour all 14 National Assembly constituencies of the city on December 7 and 10.

Punjab chapter of the PPP is also expected to hold a meeting of the party’s provincial executives on Friday for the December 13 public meeting.

The PDM has already termed the scheduled rally as historic and decisive, which makes it the most important of all the public gatherings held by the 11-party opposition alliance in the recent past.

Speaking about the workers’ convention, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that the meetings were held at NA-125 and at NA-127.

Addressing the NA-125 workers’ convention on Moni Road, former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi maintained that the December 13 rally would not be like the past ones.

He said the rally would set the course for the PDM future and would be a game changer.

The convention was attended by PML-N leaders Attaullah Tarar, Saira Afzal Tarar, Marrium Auragzeb and Bilal Yaseen.

PML-N MNA from NA-125 Waheed Alam Khan while talking to The Express Tribune noted that they had been asked to gear up for the public meeting and added that the post December 13 rally plan was not revealed to them.

On the other hand, Punjab PPP parliamentary leader MPA Hassan Murtaza said the party held a Rawalpindi district meeting on Wednesday and Lahore district meeting on Thursday.

He said the party’s Punjab executive meeting would be held on Friday to finalise the plan for the December 13 rally and added that they had not planned to hold workers’ conventions yet.
