‘Robber’ shot dead, victim wounded in looting bid

A suspect was shot dead and a citizen was injured during a robbery bid and subsequent police encounter in North Nazimabad on Monday.

Separately, two suspects were arrested after being shot and injured in different encounters with the cops. Two men on a motorcycle were reportedly trying to rob an online motorcycle service driver but he resisted them and caught one of the robbers.

At this, the other suspect opened fire at him, leaving him wounded. A police team present nearby arrived and confronted the robbers, shooting one of them while his accomplice escaped.

The cops arrested the injured suspect and were shifting him and the victim to the hospital when the robber succumbed to his wounds. According to Central SSP Arif Aslam Rao, the injured victim was identified as Fahad, 30, while the deceased could not be identified until the filing of this report.

He added that a pistol was confiscated from the possession of the slain suspect. Meanwhile, Sharae Noorjehan acting SHO Azeemuddin said the police suspected the robbers to be drug addicts, adding that they had launched an investigation. '

Encounters' Moreover, the New Town police arrested a suspect and seized illegal weapons and a stolen motorcycle from him after an encounter at Stadium Road. New Town SHO Safdar Brohi said the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Muhammad Asif, was shot and injured during the encounter, while his two accomplices managed to escape under the cover of gunfire. He added that Asif was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment.

In the meantime, the Mehmoodabad police arrested another suspect following an encounter and confiscated a TT pistol and a stolen motorcycle from him. The police said that the suspect, identified as Muzammil, 30, was shot and wounded during the encounter while his accomplice fled. They further claimed he had been involved in several incidents of street crime, adding that he too was transferred to JPMC for treatment.
