PTI, PDM agents of status quo, western powers: Siraj
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq on Sunday alleged that the PTI and PDM were the “agents” of status quo and western powers, having only agenda to serve the cause of their “masters” after coming to power.
Addressing a large gathering in Lower Dir, Siraj noted that people had tested the governments of three parties (PPP, PML-N, PTI) and dictators and were fed up of their policies.
Different mafias, he said, were part of the three parties who backed them to power by making huge investment in the elections.
He alleged that after coming to power, the political parties provided protection to the illegal businesses and corruption of the mafias.
“The country has been under the control of this vicious circle for decades but the time has come now to break the shackles of corrupt mafias and status quo [of the] parties,” he said.
“The ruling elite has no interest in public welfare as they borrow money from international lending agencies only to enslave the nation,” he added.
“No one knows where the billions of dollars of foreign loans have been spent as people are still starving, inflation is skyrocketing and unemployment has gone rampant.”
The JI chief criticised the policies of the PTI saying the party came to power by making tall claims about changing the country’s destiny.
He observed that from law and order situation to economic and foreign policy, the “Imran Khan” government had broken all previous records of “bad” governance.
“In two-and-a-half-year, thousands [of people] lost their jobs and inflation made the life of people miserable due to ‘brainless’ policies of the rulers.”
Siraj said the government was trying to instill fear among the people about the coronavirus when they had started taking to the streets to send the incumbent regime packing.
“Where was coronavirus when the PTI government was holding rallies on government expenditure during Gilgit-Baltistan elections?” he questioned.
He opined that the authorities should allow the PDM to hold rally in Multan and asked the government to fix the problems of the public or get ready to go home.
“The JI will hold a long march towards Islamabad if the rulers failed to mend their ways,” he said.
The Lower Dir public meeting was the fourth rally of the JI in continuation of its ongoing campaign against inflation, unemployment and interest-based economy.
