RAWALPINDI:

A five-day polio vaccination campaign will take place across the district from today (Monday), shared Anti-Polio drive in-charge Chaudhry Muhammad Hussain.

He said that 2,964 teams will go door-to-door to administer polio drops to 885,000 children less than five years old in all tehsils and union councils of the district. He added that 663 area in-charges, 240 medical officers and all allied and tehsil hospitals will participate in the campaign while 307 fix centres will also be set up to administer polio drops to the children.

Hussain assured that novel coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be implemented during the campaign while face masks and use of hand sanitisers is mandatory for all teams. He mentioned that all possible steps have been taken by the authority concerned to make the campaign a success.

“We have sufficient quantities of the vaccine available,” he said, adding that no stone will be left unturned in their efforts to make the campaign successful. He urged parents to step forward and play their role in eliminating the crippling disease from our society.

“The parents should cooperate with our teams so that our target can be achieved,” he reiterated.
