1,419 new Covid cases emerge in Sindh

While 13 persons die battling the contagion

KARACHI:

Sindh saw another 1,419 Covid-19 cases on Sunday, while 13 persons lost lives battling the contagion, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Muard Ali Shah in a statement issued on the day.

Of the new cases, 1,132 have been detected in Karachi, 100 in Hyderabad, 31 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 27 in Tando Muhammad Khan, 17 in Jamshoro, 15 in Matiari, 11 in Ghotki and as many in Sukkur, 10 each in Mirpurkhas and Tando Allahyar, six in Thatta, four in Sujawal and two each in Naushero Feroze, Sanghar and Umerkot.

He said so far, 2,924 coronavirus-related deaths had been reported in the province and 173,014 persons had tested positive for the infection to date, while 151,529 Covid-19 patients had regained health. Of these, 764 recoveries were reported on Sunday, as per the CM.

Presently, the province has 18,561 active cases, he said, adding that 17,777 of those patients were in home isolation, 14 in isolation centres and 770 in hospitals. Among them, the CM stated, at least 685 are critically ill, with 61 on ventilators.
