556 test positive for Covid-19 in twin cities

Around 556 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the twin cities as the second wave of the pandemic has gripped the country with the fall in temperature. At least 131 more people have become victims of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours in the Rawalpindi district.
According to a handout issued on Friday, Deputy Commissioner Anwarul Haq said that 120 patients were reported from Rawalpindi district while 11 belonged to other districts. He said that number of coronavirus patients in the district hospitals are continuously increasing while the district government, health department and others have made arrangements to control the situation.
The DC informed that 28 cases were reported from Potohar Town, eight from Rawalpindi Cantonment, 35 from Rawal Town, two from Gujar Khan, 46 from Taxila and one from Kotli Sattayan .
He further added that 26 patients were admitted in Holy Family Hospital, 22 at Benazir Bhutto Hospital, eight at Red Crescent Hospital, 46 at Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Kidney Transplant, one at the Institute of Cardiology. Meanwhile, National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Coronavirus said on Friday that 425 new Covid-19 cases were reported from the federal capital during last 24 hours.
According to an official of NCOC, as many as 576 cases were reported on Thursday which was the highest number of cases reported in a day during last two months while 424 cases were reported on Wednesday. He said so far 28,980 cases were reported from the federal capital while 305 deaths were reported from Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
He added 22,758 patients had been recovered completely. Meanwhile, on the direction of Ministry of National Health Services, the district administration of Islamabad had continued smart lockdown in different streets of the capital to reduce transmission of the infection in the selected streets and other sectors. District administration’s inspection teams are taking action on violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) of Covid-19 at marriage halls, markets and filling stations. The administration also sealed schools, shops, workshop and restaurants on violation of SOPs.
