Transporters warned of overloading

ISLAMABAD:

Traffic SSP Farrukh Sheikh on Monday warned public transporters of the district that strict action will be taken against drivers and conductors if they are found misbehaving with passengers or overloading their vehicles.

In a statement on Monday, SSP Sheikh said that the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) took action against some 6,066 drivers who overloaded their vehicles.

He directed zonal in-charges to ensure action against violators within their respective circles apart from ensuring that passengers are provided with all due facilities.

SSP Sheikh added that ITP had formed special squads to tackle complaints against public vehicles while strict action against such drivers and conductors will be taken who misbehave with passengers.

Sheikh added that they will also recommend cancelling route permits of vehicles who violate traffic rules more than once.
