Qawwal Hamza Akram accuses corporates of neglecting deserving artistes

Akram recently shared his two cents on the pop coup over the classical music scene of the country

Popular qawwal Hamza Akram recently shared his two cents on the corporate and pop coup over the classical music scene of Pakistan.

Addressing how renditions of classical tracks are now being sang by pop singers on music platforms helmed by various brands, Akram wrote, "Saare folk song covers, Qawwali covers, sufi song covers pop singers se hi gawalo bhai (Sure, go ahead and get pop artistes to profit from renditions of folk and sufi songs)."

"Jo originally deserve krte hain, Jo tuner ko gaali samjhkar zindagi riyaaz mai guzaardete hain, unko sab bhooljao..(Go on and forget the artistes that actually deserve recognition, consider tuning an insult to their abilities and spend their entire life polishing their skills)," he added.

Akram believes that such artistes are only sidelined because they don't have a million fake followers on social media, verified accounts or fancy music videos, making them less desirable for labels that are only interesting in profiting from stardom, rather than making stars.

"In bechaaron ki ghalti bas yeh hai k unk insta pe millions fake followers nhi hai verified pages nahi. Gaane Mai taaqat hai but expensive official videos banane financial taaqat nahi hai. Thats why unke originals bhi tuxedo pehne walay burgers se hi gawalo," he continued. "Hats off to all the corporates!"

Akram then concluded by saying that the Pakistani music industry is leaving behind a dark trail. "P.S, this is not about me, I have lot of work Alhumdulillah as you all know. This is about our desi musicians, singers," he assured.
