The Undertaker bids final adieu to fans on WWE Survivor Series

The phrase ‘never say never’ is one the world of professional wrestling has lived by since its inception. Given the scripted nature of the business, retirements have always been perceived with skepticism.

As the business became more profitable, the novelty of a retired legend returning has decreased with time. The Undertake perhaps is one of the biggest examples of this as, since 2017, he has hinted at retirement only to come back again.
Earlier this year, the Deadman - in the docu-series called The Last Ride, based on the last three years of his career - clarified that he was in fact done with wrestling. While it was convincing for most, given the icon’s track record, some still remained wary.

To remove any shadow of a doubt, the Undertaker (real name is Mark Calaway) appeared on WWE Survivor Series on Sunday, the same event he debuted at 30 years ago. Friends and foes of The Undertaker made their way to the ring, including Shane McMahon, Big Show, JBL, Jeff Hardy, Mick Foley, The Godfather, The Godwinns, Savio Vega, Rikishi, Kevin Nash, Ric Flair, Booker T, Shawn Michaels, Triple H and Kane. Moreover, a video package set to Metallica's Now That We're Dead, was played as Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena and Batista paid tribute.

Addressing his fans, Calaway said, "For 30 long years, I’ve made that slow walk to this ring and have laid people to rest, time and time again. And now, my time has come. My time has come to let The Undertaker rest in peace.”
As he went down on one knee to perform his signature pose, a hologram of his late onscreen manager Paul Bearer appeared, making fans all the more nostalgic.
