Sindh sees over 1,100 new Covid-19 infections

13 more succumb to contagion; over 14,000 active cases in the province

KARACHI:

Sindh saw 1,102 more Covid-19 cases on Sunday, while the contagion claimed 13 more lives, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on the day.

He said that after the emergence of over 1,100 more cases, the province's virus tally had climbed to 163,329, as the death toll reached 2,829.

According to the CM, of the new cases, 719 belong to Karachi, 113 to Hyderabad, 36 to Matiari, 24 to Badin, 22 to Umerkot, 18 to Tando Allahyar, 16 to Khairpur, 13 to Jamshoro, 12 to Mirpurkhas, 10 to Shaheed Benazirabad and as many to Sanghar, seven to Naushero Feroze, six each to Tando Muhammad Khan and Dadu, five to Sukkur, three to Thatta and as many to Ghokti and one each to Jacobabad, Kashmore-Kandhkot and Shikarpur.

Besides, the CM said, 480 Covid-19 patients had recovered from the infection overnight, raising the number of recoveries in the province thus far to 146,008.

That left 14,192 actives cases in the province, he said, adding that 13,908 infected persons were in home isolation, 10 in quarantine centres and 574 were admitted to hospitals. Among them, 510, including 61 on ventilators, are in critical condition, the CM added.
