At least 11 civilians, including six women and four children, were injured when Indian troops in yet another ceasefire violation targeted civilian population during a marriage ceremony along the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday.

“Indian army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation in Khuiratta Sector along the LoC targeting civil population during a marriage ceremony in Jigjot village with rockets and heavy mortars,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

The military’s media wing said that deliberately targeting civil population particularly women and children reflects lack of morality, unprofessionalism and utter disregard of human rights by Indian army as well as violation of ceasefire agreement of 2003.

Earlier this month, Indian troops martyred four civilians and one Pakistan Army soldier along various sectors of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

In response to the provocative act, the Pakistan soldiers had given a befitting reply to the Indian troops, and effectively targeted those posts which targeted innocent civilians.

As a result, substantial losses, both in terms of men and material, have been incurred on to Indian troops which have also been accepted by Indian media, the ISPR had said, adding that confirmed losses were much higher than being acknowledged.
