KARACHI:

A two-member bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) led by Justice KK Agha ordered the government to provide full security to Bilawal Bhutto and also granted permission to the PPP chairperson to keep personal security guards and use tinted/black glasses vehicle.

Bilawal’s counsel Akhtar Hussain Advocate maintained that there were serious security threats to the PPP chairperson.

“The terrorist outfits can target Bilawal Bhutto anytime. Several intelligence agencies have also issued a threat alert in this regard,” he said.

The court observed that there seemed to be a threat to the life of the Bhutto scion and that under such circumstances there could be no further delay.

“We consider it highly important to offer full security to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari,” the justice remarked.

The assistant attorney general maintained that no comprehensive policy had been devised to offer security to the political leaders.

Wrapping up the petition, the court ordered the Sindh Home Department and interior ministry’s secretary to complete arrangements for providing security to Bilawal.

The court further directed the authorities concerned to ensure PPP chairperson’s safety at public spots.

In 2016, Bilawal had filed a petition in the SHC for the purpose of security.
