PML-N has ‘buried’ its own politics: Sheikh Rashid
Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid on Wednesday claimed that the PML-N had “buried” its own politics by clashing with state institutions.
“Who will believe someone who pushes the enemy's agenda?” the railways minister said at a news conference in Islamabad.
On the opposition’s allegations that the recent elections in Gilgit-Baltistan were rigged, Rashid said for the first time transparent polls had been held in the region.
“Democracy has won and the PTI will have a two-third majority in the G-B Legislative Assembly by end of this month,” he added.
According to the unofficial results held in 23 constituencies of G-B on November 15, the PTI bagged 10 seats. The PPP secured three seats and the PML-N two.
The Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan (MWM), an ally of the PTI, secured one seat, whereas independent candidates emerged victorious in seven constituencies.
Speaking about former premier Nawaz Sharif, Rashid said the PML-N supremo’s statements were threat to state institutions.
He added that it was unwise for politicians to tread down a path leading to a dead end.
Speaking about the Covid-19 situation in the country, the minister said that if the virus spread further by December 30, it would be a major problem for the government.
He further said that the federal cabinet was deliberating over distributing free masks across the country.
Rashid said the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) would start its operations from Thursday (today) when 15 coaches would be inaugurated at the City Station.
“A 14km new track has been restored which would be improved further,” he explained.
“It [the coach] will be able to make eight turns and the Sindh government has built a bridge and a crossing at the 48km mark whereas in the next phase a train will operate from Orangi town to the City Station.“
The minister said all the new coaches were manufactured at the Rawalpindi carriage factory.
“The KCR will be completed in two years and the facilities given to the people will be better than those in the Orange Line Train in Lahore.”
The minister said the federal government had assured full cooperation to Sindh government for this purpose and a modern urban transport system would be introduced in Karachi.
“This transport system will be electrical and fully fenced while trains would run with a speed of 80km per hour.”
