The apex anti-graft watchdog on Tuesday filed a reference against 11 former officials of the civic authority of the federal capital, including a former chairman, for alleged irregularities in allotting plots and causing a loss to the national exchequer.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed its reference against the former Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Farkhund Iqbal along with other former officials including ex-member Abdul Aziz Qureshi, former planning director-general Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu, former directors including Mehboob Ali Khan, Waqar Ali Khan, ex-Deputy Director Masoodur Rehman, former estate management officer Muhammad Ashfaq and Latif Abid.
Former deputy directors including Sher Wazir, Rahim Khan, and Syed Tehseen Akhtar have been named as accomplices.
The suspects have been charged with irregularities in allotting plot 11 in the Civic Centre in Sector G-6 in violation of the rules.
The reference further states that these CDA officials had caused a loss of Rs71.34 million to the national exchequer.
After scrutiny at the registrar's office, the reference will be fixed for a hearing before the relevant accountability court. Earlier in November, an accountability court indicted 11 former CDA employees, including former chairman Kamran Lashari, Planning Member Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu, along with Kamran Qureshi, Mazhar Hussain, Fida Hussain, Shaukat Ali, Faisal Awan and others on charges of irregularities in awarding a contract for the Diplomatic Enclave.
The indictment came as the result of a separate reference filed by NAB against former CDA officials.
