RAHIM YAR KHAN:

A total of 30 people have been shifted to hospital after a gastroenteritis outbreak in the city. According to health officials, dozens of people have been suffering from gastroenteritis in the district.

“A large part of the outbreak is because of the dirty water leaking into damaged pipelines. It is the monsoon season and there is standing sewage water everywhere,” said health department official Raja Khawar.

Hospital officials said that the influx of patients was continually rising. “We barely have room to take in more patients but the number of cases is increasing every day,” said a DHQ Hospital nurse Shazia. Hospital officials said that infants and children were the most affected by the outbreak.
