The Balochistan Chief Minister on Monday ordered the provincial government to take strict measures to battle the second wave of coronavirus.

The provincial chief executive attended the National Coordination Committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan through a video link from Quetta.

Matters related to the second wave of Covid – 19, preventive measures, SOPs and other suggestions were discussed.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Kamal said the lethality of coronavirus has intensified in the second wave compared to the first surge in Pakistan. “The second wave of the virus is more severe and worse than the earlier one.”

He emphasised that wearing a face mask is the most basic preventive measures which could successfully thwart the spread of coronavirus.

“Government, managements of schools and other educational institutions must ensure that students wear masks at all times,” he said. “They should also have sanitizers for the teachers, staff and students at all times. Utmost precaution was needed to remain safe from the harsh second wave of the virus.”

It is pertinent to mention that the provincial government of Balochistan has constantly warned about the second Covid-19 wave and urged people to strictly follow the standard operating procedures.
