FBR simplifies income tax return form
The procedure for filing tax returns is being made easier and the return form is now available in regional languages including Urdu, Sindhi, Pushto and Punjabi, said Inland Revenue Chief Commissioner Ahmad Shuja Khan.
Speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Monday, the chief commissioner said that for a long time the business community had complained that tax forms were cumbersome, therefore, the department decided to translate them into regional languages.
He added that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) was working to establish close liaison with the business community and taking all possible measures for building mutual trust.
“FBR considers businessmen as partners and not adversaries,” he said. “Government needs revenue to run its affairs smoothly.”
The chief commissioner promised to extend cooperation to the Hafeez Centre fire victims. “We will not stay behind in this hour of need for our brothers of Hafeez Centre,” he said. Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Mian Tariq Misbah termed the simplification of FBR’s form an encouraging sign for the businessmen.
