To address the issue of sexual harassment, the academic council of the Islamia College University has recommended implementation of the decisions of the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

This was decided during the 12th Islamia College University Academic Council meeting on Sunday with Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Jehan Bakht in the chair.

The meeting took notice of the recent protests by students against alleged sexual harassment and also directed to ensure all kind of support to students.

The meeting also endorsed the decisions taken in the 23rd, 24th and 25th session of the ASRB while also approving the decision of the board of faculty of basic and social sciences.

The meeting decided to follow the policies of the HEC regarding the duration of MPhil and PhD due to coronavirus situation.

Dr Jehan Bakht directed the teachers to ensure quality education in the facility and to provide students with supportive learning environment.

The Islamia College University female students on November 12 held a large protest demonstration and demanded action against faculty members and male students who subjected them to harassment. The students alleged that the varsity administration routinely ignored the complaints of sexual harassment that had been lodged with them. They had demanded a committee be formed to probe into these complaints.
