Child’s tortured body found in Peshawar

Police say minor had gone missing on November 12

The tortured body of a four-year-old of a hearing impaired boy was found in fields on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Saturday.

The incident occurred in the precincts of Badaber police station.

The family of the victim had lodged a complaint on November 12 at the relevant police station that the four-year old has gone missing.

Tariqullah, a cousin of the deceased, said that the minor boy was playing outside his home and when he did not return home, he along with other relatives searched the nearby areas but could not find him. They immediately went to the police station and filed a complaint.

The police officials informed that the body was discovered by children playing in the area. A large police contingent, including Saddar Circle SP Abdul Salam Khalid along with Peshawar CCPO Muhammad Ali Gandapur arrived at the site after being informed by locals.

SP Khalid said that the body has severe torture marks and stomach of the deceased has been slashed however refuted the claim made by some locals that minor’s kidneys had been removed.

He added that an investigation is underway and the body has been sent for post mortem.

Meanwhile, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Police Inspector General Sanaullah Abbasi took notice of the incident and directed the Peshawar CCPO to conduct an inquiry into the incident and immediately submit a report. He said all resources would be utilised to ensure that those involved in this heinous crime are arrested.

The incident comes days after a mother and her four-year-old daughter were kidnapped and gang-raped in Sindh's Kashmore district. The child was shifted to a Karachi hospital on Saturday and her condition is said to be stable.

Last month, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl Zainab was abducted, raped and murdered from Charsadda while her body was dumped in the Daudzai area of Peshawar. The suspect who belonged to the victim’s neighbourhood was arrested immediately.

Man killed in Kotwali area of Peshawar

Meanwhile, unidentified armed men killed a 55-year-old man in the limits of Kabali police station in Peshawar on Saturday. The deceased identified as Amjad Hussain was a worker at a shop in Kotwali bazaar. A police team immediately rushed to spot and took the body into custody. Police said the body has been sent for postmortem to Khyber Medical College while an investigation has been launched.
