KARACHI:

A man murdered his sister on the pretext of honour in Korangi on Thursday night. The police arrested the suspect, Sohail, and confiscated a weapon from his possession.

According to Zaman Town SHO Farooq Sanjrani, Sohail has confessed to strangling and then gunning down his sister in his initial statement to the police. However, he said, Sohail is yet to produce the licence of the gun found in his possession and the police are yet to determine whether the weapon is licenced.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medicolegal formalities. The police are further investigating the matter, the SHO said. Separately, a man was shot and injured in New Karachi Industrial Area. The police suspect that he was hit by a stray bullet, but are further investigating the matter.

The injured, identified as 40-year-old Farhan Sharif, was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, two men were shot and injured during separate robbery bids in Karachi on Friday. Robbers shot 27-year-old Salman Javed, in the thigh when he resisted their attempt to loot him near Jamali Bridge on the Super Highway. Moreover, a man identified as Imran Sarfaraz was shot and injured for resisting a robbery attempt in Gulberg. Both the injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where Javed was said to be in critical condition.
