Five suspects arrested while others escape following dispute over water tanker

HYDERABAD:

A man was shot dead and two others were injured reportedly over a petty matter of parking a water tanker in Hyderabad on Thursday. The incident took place in Latifabad's Amani Shah Colony.

According to A-Section SHO Nisar Shah, the clash took place between neighbours and one of the parties allegedly resorted firing. As a result, 30-year-old Sajid, son of Saleem Rajput, was killed and Muhammad Hussain and Azaad were injured.

Sajid received a fatal gunshot to his head, while Hussain sustained a gunshot to his right arm and a bullet pierced through Azaad's rib.

The police have registered an FIR for the incident.

The complainant, Muhammad Zahid Rajput, told the police, "A water tanker was filling my home's tank when Najeebullah Pathan suddenly turned up in his rickshaw and started abusing us for blocking the street."

He added that other persons joined Najeebullah within a few minutes, haranguing and harassing Zahid and those with him. Zahid alleged that those accompanying Najeebullah took out their weapons and opened fire.

He accused Zar Muhammad Pathan of gunning down Sajid. According to him, Mujeebur Rehman Pathan shot and injured Hussain, while Azaad was hit by a bullet fired by Sher Ali Pathan.

Sardar, Ali Asghar, Asif, Sanaullah and two unidentified persons are also nominated in the FIR.

The SHO said the police had arrested five of the nominated suspects while the remaining managed to escape.

The body was taken to Liaquat University Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
