ISLAMABAD:

The apex civic agency of Islamabad assured the high court that it would complete the regularisation process of all contractual and daily-wage workers in three months.

A single-member bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani presided over the case pertaining to the regularisation of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) contractual employees on Wednesday.

The court remarked that the employees had become inconsolable. How the workers would perform when the CDA would mentally torture them to such an extent, the court stated and added that the contractual employees must be given rights.

The petitioner’s counsel accused that the CDA administration wanted to delay regulation as the union elections were around the corner. The bench remarked that why shouldn’t daily-wage employees be given the right to vote. “We will then see how the management doesn’t work,” it added.

Justice Kayani directed the CDA administration to resolve the issues of contractual and daily-wage employees and to inform the court after completing the regularisation process.

CDA officials pleaded three-month time from the court to complete the regularisation process which was granted.
