Investigation team presents video in court showing young woman being taken away from hostel

Police on Wednesday claimed to have found more evidence leading to the murder of a zoology student in the city.

The police investigation team raided the call centre of the accused graphic designing student who was arrested in connection with the murder of University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) student Kainat in People’s Colony area.

Police obtained transaction receipts as well as the video of the victim being taken from the hostel on a motorcycle and presented it in the court, obtaining his physical remand.

As per details available with The Express Tribune, the body of a young woman was found last week from Railway Colony.

The victim was identified as Kainat, an MSc Zoology student of UAF. She was shot dead by a graphic designing student at GC University over a transaction dispute.

After arresting the accused, People’s Colony police handed over the body to her relatives after postmortem.

As per police records, the body of an unidentified 21-year-old woman dressed was found near a school in Tariqabad, Railway Colony on November 4. She was shot in the head by unknown individuals.

The victim was identified when her family reported her missing. The photo of the body found by the police was shown to her father Asif Baig.

After identification, Asif stated that Kainat was living in a hostel in Harianwala Chowk. People’s Colony SHO Rizwan Shaukat visited Harianwala Chowk hostel and found that the victim used to work at the call centre of Muhammad Talal Hussain, a resident of Samanabad Aminabad in Harianwala Chowk.

The victim had resigned from the job on July 8 this year reportedly for two reasons including non-payment of her salary and the misuse of her money by the accused Talal.

Kainat used to draw a salary from her work at the call centre and also receive remittances from her brother who lived abroad.
