Balochistan to raise water accord issue

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal has assured to take up the problems of the province in the upcoming Council of Common Interests meeting in Islamabad.

This was decided during a high level meeting chaired by the provincial chief executive in Quetta on Tuesday.

According to the public relations department press release, the meeting reviewed matters related to the CCI meeting.

“Interests of the Balochistan province will surely be presented in an effective way to the CCI,” Jam Kamal informed the meeting.

During the meeting, it was decided that Balochistan will raise the issue of 1991 IRSA water accord, issues of health and population control, import of LNG and National Commission for Human Development (NCHD).

The meeting also approved to raise the provincial government stance regarding the policy of energy acquisition through renewable and alternative energy.

While addressing the meeting, CM Kamal said Balochistan will also demand its share in the fertilizer subsidy. “We will take every step to secure the rights of Balochistan.”

He further directed the concerned officials and departments to prepare for the upcoming CCI meeting.

Inter-provincial coordination secretary briefed the meeting in detail regarding issues concerning the province and the center.

Balochistan Transport Minister Umar Khan Jamali, Parliamentary Information Secretary Bushra Rind, Danesh Kumar, Chief Secretary Balochistan Cap (retd) Fazeel Asghar, provincial secretaries and other top officials attended the meeting.
